The Kirch space is topologically rigid

چکیده

The Golomb space (resp. the Kirch space) is set N of positive integers endowed with topology generated by base consisting arithmetic progressions a+bN0={a+bn:n≥0} where a,b∈N and b a (square-free) number, coprime a. It known that connected (and locally connected). By recent result Banakh, Spirito Turek, has trivial homeomorphism group hence topologically rigid. In this paper we prove topological rigidity space.

Topologically fixed SecG is fully functional.

It has been proposed that the bitopic membrane protein SecG undergoes topology inversion during translocation of (pre)proteins via SecYEG. Here we show that SecG covalently cross-linked to SecY cannot invert its topology while remaining fully functional in protein translocation. Our results strongly disfavor topology inversion of SecG during protein translocation.
